If you look at the growth and change in the USA and the world over the last 100 years, an interesting question arises: what should our cities be like in another hundred years? Sounds a long way off, but remember, that 1908 was a similar time, our great grandparents’ prime of life, and everything that is part of our lives now had its foundations there. Let’s look at where we were, where we are, and what’s coming. In a World where everything around us seems to be mechanized and de-humanized, supporting true artisans and craftspeople is becoming increasingly important. As many traditional skills and crafts are being lost, it is paramount we acknowledge and support such artisans, without exploitation. Global ethical trading is necessarily essential - People matter. While tattoos and piercing are breaking into an increasingly open society, new and surprising forms of aesthetics are arising: the scarification and branding tattoos, the subcutaneous implants and the mutilation. Some of these techniques have thousands of years, such as the scarification, who have been practiced in cultures like the Maya since ancient times. Today, in capitals like Berlin, you can see more and more people with these new forms of extreme beauty. My concern about “socialization” of the Health Care System, which would restrict the citizens of choosing their Health Care. It’s a commendable and a responsible thought of a Government to oversee the Health Care of their subjects, but not to deprive them of their choices. We live in a Free and Democratic Society and there should be a Freedom of choice for the citizens. There is an other way worth investigating: a System, that was in effect after the Wold War II (and perhaps still is) in Chile, South America, a Health Care system that used to accommodate the need of all citizens in that Country. The System may shed some light on our problem.
